getting kind of confused

Hey everyone, just thought I would ask for your advice. Been a student of Tibetan Buddhism for around three years now, and have studied other spiritual paths in the past, meditation, etc. Have experienced the intuitive feeling and experientially that Tibetan Buddhist teachings have a deep, profound, and very real transmission that can't be explained in words. Recently, though I've been feeling so discouraged because Sangha members don't seem shy to ask for favors, but never return the favor or let me know about teachings, etc., that those are only for the 'inner group' or something. What is up with this ? I haven't any experience in how to navigate the politics, and also why are there so many politics when aren't we all supposed to be generous and open-hearted and want our fellow sangha members to grow, learn, and evolve, as much as possible? I realize that for some retreats, etc., one needs to have completed Nyundro, made a certain number of accumulations, etc. (and have been working on it steadily) but there is just this wierd sense of exclusionism, and Sangha members only being friendly when they need you to do something for them. Is this 'normal' for this path ? How does one ever advance ? Any advice would be appreciated.
