Traditionally, the Nyingma tradition is guided by six mother monasteries...
Since the exile, at the request of H. H. the Dalai Lama, there has been
a "Supreme Head" elected from among the most realized yogis and
sometimes eve a monk. ;) This person represents "the best and brightest"
of the Nyingma order to the Tibetan Government in Exile, and the Tibetan
community worldwide.

The first was H. H. Dudjom Rinpoche, elected unanimously. The second was
H. H. Dilgo Khyense Rinpoche. The third was H. H. Penor Rinpoche, who after
many years of service resigned. H. H. the Mindroling Tri Chen was then elected.
Following his Parinirvana, Trulshik Rinpoche was elected.

Now, since Trulshik Rinpoche's passing Dodrupchen Rinpoche was requested...
He declined based on his uncertain health. The search committee has announced:

Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche kindly accepted to be head of Nyingmapa School.
A request letter offered by H. E. Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, H. E. Minling Khenchen
Rinpoche, H. E. Kathog Getse Rinpoche, representative from Namdrling Monastery
Ven. Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso, representative from Dzogchen Monastery and two
Nyingmapa representatives to Tibetan Government in exile, on 6th March 2012 in Shimla.
It will be officially announced after the audience with H. H. Dalai Lama.
